Healthy and Safe Workplace

We believe that our employees are the architects and our most valuable assets in our work that we have devoted to making our community and our consumer happy. Creating a healthy, safe, and happy working environment for our employees is among our top priorities. In this scope we assign great importance to occupational health and safety (OHS). Our Occupational Health and Safety Committees meet every week across all our companies and develop ideas to improve our working environments.

OHS and Operational Excellence efforts are conducted by the General Manager of our Health, Safety and Energy Department and our senior executives who also sit on the Ülker Sustainability Platform.

We aim to determine risks proactively, take the necessary precautions, and eliminate the root causes of accidents. As part of our operational excellence efforts, we focus in particular on raising awareness on safe work habits and improving working conditions. In this scope we reduced the number of occupational incidents by 39% in 2016 compared to the previous year.

Our target in 2024 is Zero Accidents at Work

In order for occupational health and safety principles and rules to be adopted as working principles we conduct activities to raise awareness and encourage our employees to acquire the necessary knowledge and skill. To achieve this goal we raised average Occupational Health and Safety training hours by 45% compared to the previous year. Ülker Bisküvi produces in compliance with the BRC (British Retail Consortium) and IFS (International Food Safety) standards, which are internationally accepted food safety standards. We manage all factories without exception effectively with the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
